(HealthDay News) -- Dealing with a natural or man-made disaster,
inclement weather, or similar crisis situation can be easier if you
prepare an emergency kit.
Be sure to include these essentials, advises the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons:
- A first aid kit.
- A flashlight, small radio and batteries.
- A whistle, used to signal others.
- Duct tape, waterproof matches and plastic sheeting.
- Toilet paper.
- Blankets.
- A pair of sturdy shoes.
- Enough water and non-perishable food to last three days or
longer.
